A portion of the proceeds from your purchase of The Courage I Learned will be donated to Laurel House of Montgomery County, PA.

Laurel House is dedicated to the vision of ending domestic violence in each life, home, and community. They were established in May of 1980, the same year my family was going through enormous trauma. We did not know about Laurel House in 1980. However, I was emotionally moved when I learned as an adult that they were working so hard to be a place of refuge for individuals and families at the same time our lives were in turmoil. I continue to be inspired by all they do to help our community. Their organization is remarkable.

Be A Survivor

Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive and coercive behavior used by one person to gain power and control over another in an intimate relationship.

Although most closely associated with physical abuse, domestic violence can take many other forms such as psychological, emotional, verbal, financial abuse, sexual violence, and isolation. Laurel House staff members and volunteers are trained to help victims of all types of domestic violence, and to support their loved ones.
